“Crow Hoppin’ At Crow Butte” is my latest 36″ x 48″ oil on canvas. This painting represents the mix of one of Nebraska’s most iconic landmarks with the sudden “crow hopping” of this rider’s sorrel steed. Most cowboys can recount the sudden impact of their horse being spooked by something, and immediately going into a “wild ride” trying to remove their rider. Although crow hopping usually refers to a more subdued bucking action from the horse, it seemed that the appropriate name of this rendering should be “Crow Hoppin’ At Crow Butte”…
