“Roping At The Remuda” (24” x 36” original oil on canvas) captures the accurate swing of the cowboy wrangler, as he ropes the awaiting steed.  Here you see the morning sunrise in the east, with Four Mile Mountain, in the background at the famous 6666 Ranch in Guthrie, Texas.  Cowboys ride a different horse each day in this part of Texas, as early mornings, and long days and  roundups, along with long rides back to camp exerts a significant amount of effort and energy on the loyal horse that they ride.  Therefore each cowboy usually has from 4 or 5  horses in the remuda (group of horses) to mount them, afresh each day during the course of the weeks work and branding.  This rendering capsulates “Roping At The Remuda”…
